Teen Protective Styling

It's a new week and a new blog. Welcome new subscribers! Thank you everyone for your support. This week I bought in my two best friends, my beautiful, smart, God fearing daughters. I was excited that they agreed to do this with me. I had them both choose what they wanted as a protective style. They both have two different hair types, while my oldest has a 3A hair type with a curly wavy texture. She also has color treated hair so we make sure we keep her appointments for her protein treatments. I wash both of their hair biweekly and then I do a deep condition treatment. Baby girl has 3C hair, she has is fully natural meaning its not chemical processed. She is very tender headed, so I always co-wash her hair first. She never likes to get her hair done but she always loves the outcome. I always use oils on both of their scalps to nourish because they get so dry.

I decided to do braids in Mia-Arie’s hair which is my youngest daughter. She wanted them medium but she wanted them longer. I normally don't do them long so I told her let's do it. Then she said “Mom lets add color to the ends also, I want to add some spice.” I was like okay. She was like “you usually say no.” I was like “girl you get braids all the time so we can do something different.” So once my oldest saw her sisters, she was like mom, I want mine done as well.

Markyla opted for smaller knotless long braids. I will be honest it took me 2 ½ days. Her natural hair is thick also, it’s long so we took many breaks. I used chi heat protector spray and blow dried both of their hair to keep their hair in braids for at least 3 to 4 times a year to give it a break. I also feel like it gives it time to bond and catch up. I always try to find ways to bond and show them how to care for themselves. I showed both of them how they started them and they finished the ends. They both catch on really fast, but they do a few then we just talk and laugh and they leave the rest up to me.

I purchased Spetra stretch eazy braiding pre stretch 24. I used 4/30 then I fed in 27 on the ends. It's basically my go to in braiding hair. I like the texture and feel of it. It works well for most hair textures. If you're looking to get a protective style rather braids, opt for crochet locs like I showed last week both are versatile and easy to get up and go styles.

I hope you all enjoy your weekend and be safe until next week. I'll leave you with these words

“I will look at you across any room and think you are the most beautiful person I have ever seen for as long as I breathe.” - a.r.asher

Until Next Week,

Love ,Angel❤
